Things to do – meet the animals!

There is no shortage of things to do in Suffolk. Here are some great places to visit during your stay at The Orchard Campsite, should you fancy venturing off the site. This is a selection of our favourite animal encounters!

The Suffolk Punch Trust

(10 minutes drive)

Our favourite spot to visit in nearby Hollesley, as there is loads to do here for all the family. Come and see the good work being done to save this critically endangered breed. The team here work tirelessly to ensure the future of the Suffolk Punch – the oldest breed of English working horse. Demonstrations, tractor rides, meet the horses and stroll around the beautiful grounds – see what other four-legged residents live here! A fab family day out with informative visitor centre and the all important playground. Dogs on leads are also welcome, and we’d highly recommend stopping at the cafe for the homemade cake.

Baylham House Farm

(30 minutes drive)

A little further afield but worth the countryside drive to Baylham to see these rare breeds. Meet all the friendly animals on the farm trail, refuel with an afternoon tea (or bring a picnic) and then greet the goats or feed the chickens!

Easton Farm Park

(10 minutes drive)

Especially great to meet the little baby lambs in the spring, Easton Farm Park is a great trip out for little ones. In the neighbouring village of there is plenty of opportunity for you to meet the animals and of course the playbarn, ideal for those rare rainy moments!

Valley Farm Equestrian Centre

(5 minutes drive)

Lots of horsey activities for the novice or experienced rider at local stables Valley Farm. Situated on the outskirts of the village. For a unique holiday experience you can try your hand at carriage driving or even western style horse riding.

Jimmy’s Farm

(30 minutes drive)

Jimmy at Jimmy's Farm with some pigs

A huge array of animals and activities at Jimmy’s Farm near Ipswich, too many for us to mention here, an action packed day is promised! Yes, that Jimmy from the TV!
