As you will be aware, HM Government has lifted the Closure Order on campsites with effect from 4th July 2020, subject to each campsite being ‘Covid Secure’. Guidance on achieving ‘Covid Secure’ status is, at present, sketchy at best and appears to be largely based on individual risk assessment by the campsite operator. These risk assessments are currently underway at The Orchard Campsite to ensure that all our clients, staff and external contractors are as safe as is reasonably possible whilst present at the site. We aim to be ‘Covid Secure’ and ready to welcome guests by Friday 10th July 2020.
It is already apparent, however, that we will not be able to take the relaxed, carefree approach to camping that we have always championed and to which our guests have become accustomed – at least for the foreseeable future. With this in mind, we have already made several key decisions that may or may not affect your booking:
YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL TO THE SITE IF ANYONE IN YOUR PARTY DISPLAYS COVID-19 SYMPTOMS!
In line with guidance from both HM Government and respected industry bodies, only limited facilities will be available during your stay due to risk of transmission and levels of cleaning required.
|Toilets (WC main block)||✔|
|Showers (Main block)||🗶|
|Drinking water points||✔|
|Toilet waste disposal point||✔|
|Washing up area||✔|
|The snug/table tennis||🗶|
|Children’s play area||🗶|
Toilet facilities are being modified to create a one-way flow through the block to reduce contact with others not in your household. Please wait at the door or in the socially distanced queue until a WC stall is available and follow the one-way system. Do not turn back or wait in the corridor. Do not leave through the entrance door.
Enhanced cleaning arrangements are being made for the facilities that will remain open, which will include daytime deep cleaning. It may be necessary to close the block for a short while during cleaning due to the use of enhanced cleaning products. Please be patient – we will always open facilities as quickly as possible.
GROUP OR MULTIPLE BOOKINGS
Government guidelines have been relaxed to allow two households (no limit to individuals) or a maximum of 6 individuals from multiple households to gather in a social group subject to social distancing. This rule remains in place during your stay at The Orchard. All indications are that it remains a criminal offence to breach these rules or to entice others to do so. Unless and until those rules relax further, we are not able to accommodate groups. If you have already made a group booking you should call Alan on 07818 034729 as soon as possible.
Social distancing rules remain in place for everyone. Unless it is impossible to do so, you MUST remain 2m away from anyone not in your household or take mitigating action (for example, wear a face covering) and remain 1m apart under the new 1m+ rule. In practice, that means you should not:
- Meet or gather with more than one other household or a total of 6 individuals from multiple households in a social group
- Invite or entertain day visitors to the site
- Allow children to roam unsupervised around the park so that they do not, albeit inadvertently, break the social distancing rules
MODIFIED CHECK-IN PROCEDURE
We will be operating a near contactless check-in. Full payment must be received via PayPal prior to your arrival. The Orchard will email you with a reminder advising any outstanding balance, which should be paid using PayPal, if at all possible, as we have only limited resources to accept payments by phone.
Once we have confirmed receipt of your payment and received all the information we are required to collect (see additional information section) we will forward a unique contactless Check-in Code by email.
Check-in will then proceed as follows:
- On arrival at the site you should follow the directions to the Check-In area
- Park up and REMAIN IN YOUR CAR
- The Check-In staff will approach your vehicle and ask you to open the driver’s window
- You will be asked for your unique contactless Check-in Code
- Once this has been verified you will be directed to your pre-allocated pitch
- Your tent, caravan or motorhome MUST be pitched on top of the pitch marking to ensure the required social distancing
To comply with and assist the NHS Test and Trace system in place in England, we are required to obtain details of all households attending the site and to hold this information for a minimum of 21 days. In the event of any individual who is, or has been, on site displaying symptoms or contracting Covid-19, we may be asked to provide that information to the NHS Test and Trace team. The Household Information Form below must be completed and returned in order to obtain your unique contactless Check-in Code. Without this code you will be unable to check in on arrival. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZA638003 and comply with all relevant data legislation for your protection.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR STAY AS ENJOYABLE AS POSSIBLE?
Please read these instructions carefully and ensure that everyone in your party understands them. Be assured that it hurts us to have to impose such a strict regime, but it is the only way we can open and welcome you to The Orchard for the time being, at least. Remember – you can still transfer your booking to any available date of your choice in 2021, should you prefer to do so!
We look forward to seeing you from a distance and hope you enjoy your ‘Covid Secure’ stay at The Orchard.
IF ANYONE DISPLAYS SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 DURING YOUR STAY YOU MUST INFORM A MEMBER OF STAFF IMMEDIATELY AND FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE PROVIDED
